Portland Oregons Mayor Sam Adams advocates Solar NOW!!

Portland Oregons Mayor has shown his dedication to generating more green power for the city, mayor Sam Adams has called for the city to generate five megawatts of solar energy by 2012. A megawatt can typically power between 800 and l,000 average sized homes.

Adams On Solar in Oregon
"For years we fought the mis-perception that solar is impossible in this part of the country. We know that to be false, as we demonstrate through collaboration between public and private enterprises, that we can be leaders in the manufacturing and adoption of solar energy," said Adams in a statement.

In fact, Germany has less solar resource than the US and in fact generates a fairly high amount of energy from photovoltaic. One thing to think about would be using one of the higher output solar thermal systems so as to generate more electric. The conventional Trough based solar collectors are reaching ever expanding efficiencies as the understanding of heat engine chemistry evolves.
